The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre is delighted to have been nominated in The Apprentice Scheme of The Year category at the 2016 Toast of Surrey Business Awards.
Each year, YAT’s Apprentice Scheme gives one young person a 12 month placement working in a variety of theatre roles, helping to give a balanced and informed experience right across all aspects of working within the theatre industry. Uniquely, the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre helps to focus each apprentice’s interests, helping to get them industry ready at the end of their 12 month placement. Some of our previous apprentices now work in production, run their own theatre company and work in theatre design and education for theatres throughout the UK.
Nick White, Head of Youth, Education and Community explains ‘Getting into theatre is notoriously difficult, our apprentice scheme not only opens a door to young people, but gives them the time to learn and make informed choices about their chosen career path. Our apprenticeship is about inspiring young minds and helping someone to develop what really interests them - we are delighted that such a high percentage of our apprentices are now theatre industry professionals.’
