An outstanding ensemble of actors perform two vibrant and compelling productions, presented in repertoire by The Watermill Theatre.
A tale of mistaken identities, seduction and transformation, Twelfth Night is re-imagined in the 1920s where prohibition is rife and Europe is still reeling in the wake of war. Fusing the radical spirit of Duke Ellington, Django Reinhardt, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong with an innovative approach to staging and actor-musicianship, Twelfth Night is a dizzying and beautiful version of Shakespeare’s perfect play.
The Watermill Theatre has become known around the world for its bold, ensemble driven approach to presenting Shakespeare. Previous productions have toured internationally from Buenos Aries to Singapore, New York to China, from Bangladesh to Japan and in London's West End. In its fiftieth anniversary year, The Watermill Theatre celebrate this rich history by presenting two of Shakespeare's most iconic plays in repertoire.
‘By the time all is resolved with a final glorious jamming session, the audience is begging the brass to 'play on' long after the last curtain call.
