An Evening With Rick Stein
Rick Stein has been spilling his culinary secrets in books and on television for many years, advising us on the best seafood, and taking readers on food odysseys around the UK and into Spain, France, the Far East and India. In his forthcoming memoir Under A Mackerel Sky, he tells the fascinating story behind his success.
After Rick Stein's father committed suicide when Rick was eighteen, Rick escaped to Australia and worked in an abattoir and on the railways. On returning to the UK, he set up a nightclub in Cornwall, where he had holidayed as a child. It became a favourite of drunken fishermen and was soon closed down by local police, but the food licence remained and Rick's amazing career as a restaurateur and entrepreneur began, soon progressing to that of broadcaster, passionate food champion and writer.
