Guys and Dolls
A 1950s favourite, romantic musical comedy Guys and Dolls involves the unlikeliest of Manhattan pairings: a high-rolling gambler and a strait-laced missionary, a showgirl dreaming of the straight-and-narrow and a craps-game manager who is anything but.
Club singer Miss Adelaide has been waiting impatiently for 14 years to be married. Her fiancé, gambler Nathan Detroit is in trouble as he struggles to find a venue for his latest ‘floating dice game’. Detroit bets fellow gambler Sky Masterson $1000 that he cannot take a ‘doll’ of his choice out for dinner. Full of self-confidence, Sky agrees, only to find that the doll in question is the pious Sarah Brown.
Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls is a Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical that takes us from the bustle of Times Square to the dance clubs of Havana to the sewers of New York City and features memorable musical numbers including A Bushel and a Peck, Luck Be A Lady and Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat, plus toe-tapping dance routines.
