Heroes
Presented by The Atre Company
Set in 1959 provincial France, three WWI veterans have set up a little domain in the back terrace of their retirement home. They look to defend it from all-comers but also feel the desire to escape their existence confined by their age, frailties and infirmities.
Their interaction produces a study of les poilus and their tales, experiences and fears through their misogyny, grumpiness and genuine camaraderie. This poignant look at old soldiers is a gem to savour.
