His Dark Materials
Presented by Yvonne Arnaud Youth Theatre: Act One
Lyra and Will come from different worlds with different aims but they and their destinies are thrown together as they move through even more worlds on their search. As they seek Will’s father, Lyra’s pal Roger and the answer to the mystery of Dust it becomes clear that these are no ordinary children and they are embroiled in the greatest of all battles.
On their epic journey, Will and Lyra encounter a host of strange and fearsome enemies and friends from the savage armoured bears and witch clans to the soul-destroying spectres, gobblers and the terrifying harpies in the Land of the Dead – to say nothing of the beautiful but treacherous Mrs Coulter.
Act One’s most ambitious show to date promises to be a feast of action, magic, puppetry and high energy physical theatre as well as wonderful storytelling. Act One has shown enormous versatility in recent years with The Canterbury Tales, Good Times and The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.
