Jongleurs

The world-famous comedy club is at Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre for one night only, with another superb line-up from the best of the British stand-up circuit.

During this hilarious evening compere Barry Ferns and comedians Peter White, Stuart Black, James Sherwood will take to the stage to tickle your funny bone.

Nominated for best compere at the Chortle Awards in 2014 for his work with the Angel Comedy Club in London, Barry Ferns first started as stand-up in 1995, aged 17.  But then he quit stand-up to make Edinburgh Fringe sketch shows, including The Leisure Virus, Doreen and This Sketch Show Belongs to Lionel Richie, which became better known for Ferns legally changing his name to Lionel Richie. In August 2008, Ferns started stand-up again and in 2012 got to the final of the Leicester Square Comedian Of The Year competition.

Born in a small town in Nova Scotia, Canada, Peter White has gone on to accomplish a lot in a short time.  He recorded his own hour long Comedy Network stand up special, was nominated for Canadian Comedy Award and a Writer's Guild of Canada Award, and appeared in a TV miniseries with Pierce Brosnan.  He's performed all across Canada, including the prestigious Just For Laugh's international comedy festival in Montreal, and has written for various television shows, including the multiple Gemini award-winning political satire show This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

Stuart Black’s comedy is intelligent, twisted, dark, and very funny.  He explores life’s mysteries and frustrations using language to paint colourful and memorable images.  Stuart has performed at venues all over the UK including: The Comedy Store, Jongleurs, Frog & Bucket Manchester, Glee Club Birmingham and Komedia Brighton.

James Sherwood has become one of the country’s foremost comedy writers and continues his rapid ascent of the stand-up circuit. Having received the BBC Radio Comedy writers’ bursary in 2008, James contributes the funnies to radio shows across the BBC, including The Now Show, The News Quiz and BBC7’s topical comedy sketch show, NewsJack.  Having originally made a name for himself on the live circuit as a topical comic, in recent years James has incorporated a number of self-penned, original comic songs into his act. Although this involves lugging a keyboard around with him, it’s worth it – favourites include songs about grammatical inaccuracies and failed nightclub courtships.

Laugh away the January Blues – Jongleurs on the Road is the perfect way to get your New Year off to a hilarious start!
