The Lark
Presented by Yvonne Arnaud Youth Theatre: Interval
Rouen, 1431. A peasant girl, having led France to several important victories during the Hundred Years’ war is brought to trial for heresy. To England she was a threat to the crown. To France she was Joan of Arc, the Maid of Orléans.
Moving back and forth in time, scenes from Joan’s life are played out before the court as they attempt to use her modesty and humble heart against her. As the trial moves towards its inevitable outcome, the glory of Joan’s courage and strength in this timeless story are brought to spirited life.
Interval has gained a reputation for performing and developing new writing as well as a fresh approach to classics. Recent successes have included Lord of the Flies, Romeo and Juliet and The BFG.
