“English Touring Theatre is surely the national theatre of touring” SIR IAN McKELLAN
Tonight at 8.30 - Cocktails
From the pen of the ever popular Noël Coward comes this exquisite collection of nine one-act plays performed together, three plays per night, for the first time since Coward starred in them in 1936. From vaudeville to satire, from melodrama to romance, these plays span the glorious range of Coward’s writing.
Performed in trios of three per evening, this is a unique opportunity to see all of these wonderful plays. Come along once, twice or three times. Or make a day of it and see all nine plays performed on a Saturday with meal intervals in between.
Cocktails will be the following plays - We Were Dancing, The Astonished Heart and Red Peppers
We Were Dancing
Despite being a married woman, Louise falls madly in love with Karl at a country club dance. They plan their future and dream of going away. Yet in the cold light of morning, reality dawns.
The Astonished Heart
Over a series of flashbacks, we see the developing romance and obsession between Christian, a physiatrist and Leonora, a good time girl.
Red Peppers
George and Lily Pepper are a husband and wife double act who don’t believe their show is going well. When they question the ability of the theatre’s musical director he throws in some surprises for them!
