Wife Begins at Forty
“Marriage may be made in heaven… but it has to be lived in Woking!”
“What 40?! Me! Can’t be true!” That’s what Linda says to herself as the dreaded birthday approaches. Age is just one of her problems. She has to reluctantly admit that the spark has gone out of her marriage to good-natured but boring George. Well, with 17 years of being together, it’s only to be expected.
But George isn’t quite ready to call it a day and with the help of his neighbours and his eccentric ex-RAF father, he attempts to spice up their relationship. Soon, both Linda and George discover that the flames of passion are not quite dead and that 40 is just a number! There is still time for romance and fun… as this delightful comedy proves.
This hilarious comedy was given its first production by Ray Cooney’s Theatre of Comedy Company at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in 1985, before transferring to the Ambassadors Theatre in the West End for a highly successful run. We are delighted to welcome Ray back with this delightful comedy.
