What better way to teach a rowdy bunch of school kids the classics of the English literature cannon, than with an all singing, all dancing pop musical? Exactly the thinking of Mr. Nicholls as he attempts to ignite the young minds of his class and retell Dickens’ celebrated tale of Nicholas Nickleby. The unruly class are taken back in time to a Dickensian world of hardship and misery – quickly realising school-life in the 21st Century is a breeze in comparison!

Full of catchy numbers, Smike! has enjoyed tremendous popularity ever since its BBC TV production. Act Three are proud to build on the success of Revolting Rhymes and The Curious Quest for the Sandman’s Sand in bringing their re-staging of this classic musical to the Mill Studio.
