The main stage
The Busybody
By Susanna Centilivre
Presented by GSA
The most successful play by one of the premier dramatists of the eighteenth century, Centlivre’s The Busybody was originally performed by Royal Command for both King George I and George II and ran for 13 nights – a remarkable run for the time!
Take two young women of "marriageable age", two young men interested in these two young women, and two parents determined to keep the young men well away from the young women. Add two servants full of cunning plans, and one busybody. The result is a restoration comedy full of witty dialogue and lively action performed by GSA final year graduates.
Directed by Peter Barlow
