Youth activities with the Yvonne Arnaud Youth Theatre
The Yvonne Arnaud's Youth theatre offers an exciting and extensive array of workshops, classes and theatre activities for all people between the ages of 6 and 21.
If you're interested in the theatre, a complete beginner, a dedicated actor, or just want to have fun, then the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre will have classes for you!
Production Groups
We have 5 production groups that perform a range of shows from musicals to drama and devised work in the Mill Studio with a team of professionals at the helm. Auditions for these groups are held during the summer term.
- Act One 16 yrs + Mon 7:00pm - 9:30pm
- Interval 14 - 16 yrs Tues 7:00pm - 9:00pm
- Scene Change 12 - 15 yrs Wed 7:30pm - 9:30pm
- Act Two 9 - 14 yrs Wed 5:15pm - 7:15pm
- Act Three 7 - 13 yrs Tues 4:30pm - 6:30pm
The Summer Show
All members of the Youth Theatre, from First Stage to Act One can audition for our summer show on the main stage at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre. Past successes on the main stage include Arabian Nights, Peter Pan, The Wolf Boys, The Selfish Giant, Shake, Ripple and Roll and Pandemonium.
Holiday Workshops
We run 'a play in a week' holiday workshops during the Easter and summer holidays. Each play is based on a different theme - we've had a mystery week, myths and legends, dreams and fairy tales, all culminating in a performance at the end of the week for friends and family.
Yvonne Arnaud Theatre School Workshops
We run a comprehensive selection of curriculum-based history and drama workshops for schools. Subjects range from Egyptians through to the Greeks, the Romans, Vikings, Victorians, and up to the present day. We also run an award-winning environmental workshop that looks at caring for our planet's future. If you want something different, give us a call and we'll do our best to provide it.
Open Stage
Open Stage teaches you the theatre skills you need while concentrating on having fun. Everyone is welcome so if you want to give drama a go, come and join us!

- Open Stage 1: 8 - 10 yrs, Sat 9:00am - 10:00am
- Open Stage 2: 10 - 12 yrs, Sat 10:15am - 11:30am
- Open Stage 3: 13 - 16 yrs, Sat 11:45am - 1:00pm
- Open Stage 4: 9 - 12 yrs, Sat 2:00pm - 3:15pm
- Open Stage 5: 8 - 11 yrs, Sat 10:15am - 11.30am
- Open Stage 6: 12 - 15 yrs, Sat 11:45am - 1.00pm
- Final Stage 14 + yrs, Sat 3:30pm - 5:00pm

Post Show Talks
Performance related active workshops for adults and post show talks are arranged on selected productions and held at the theatre. See individual show information for more details.
Workshops for Schools and Colleges
Performance related workshops are arranged for some productions to enhance students' understanding of the performance and text. Where possible the workshops are free, or we ask for a voluntary contribution towards costs.
