Storytelling helps families to engage with one another, to be able to spend time together, to use their imagination and inspire people to dream. It also promotes good communication skills and the ability to interact with confidence from a young age.
The Story Project is already working with Guildford Borough Council’s Project Aspire team and King’s College, Guildford to develop theatre based on the lives of those who live in the Westborough area of Guildford.
Now the we want to hear from you! You can recommend any local nursery, school or charity for a visit from The Story Project. Each month, we will invite a different local nursery, school or charity to choose a story, which we will then work on before visiting that organisation to deliver an inventive, tailor-made storytelling session.
The first charity to participate in this community project was Shooting Star Chase and Barbie Hibberd, Activities Coordinator at the charity’s Guildford-based hospice, said: “It was a fabulous session, with lots of sensory and interactive activities – and the children simply loved it. We can’t thank the Yvonne Arnaud enough for preparing such a great morning and taking the time to brighten up our day. We hope to see them back at the hospice again in the near future!”
To be a part of The Story Project, simply submit your nomination by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with ‘The Story Project’ in the subject line and tell us why you think your chosen organisation deserves a visit from The Story Project.
