An Audience with the Reverend Richard Coles
The Rev Richard Coles is one of the few celebrities to have successfully bridged the gap between pop music and the pulpit.
In this unique evening he will share his story, which is as real as it is unlikely. Connecting the euphoria and mayhem of being on Top of The Pops in the 80s to his present circumstances as Church of England priest, radio broadcaster and television show panellist, Richard will answer the questions, “How do you go from pop star to priest? And why?”
Richard has a delightfully enquiring mind and as such, his talks are always moving, thought-provoking and entertaining in equal order. He will discuss his latest book, Bringing in the Sheaves, which picks up where his earlier volume Fathomless Riches closed, with his ordination as a priest.
Frequently appearing on radio and television, as well as in newspapers, Richard is probably best known as the regular host of BBC Radio 4's Saturday Live programme. He also regularly appears on Newsnight and TV panel shows such as QI and Have I Got News For You, where his quick and inventive verbal humour is always to the fore. When the matter is more spiritual, Richard has featured on BBC TV's Songs of Praise specials and as a guest on BBC Radio 2’s Pause for Thought.
