“Astonishing… for an hour and a half La Divina lived again” WESTERN DAILY PRESS

The remarkable life and career of opera singer Maria Callas is laid bare in Jean-Yves Picq’s tragic yet uplifting play. Based exclusively on authentic interviews, Picq’s sensitive and candid portrayal of the legendary opera singer won the Molière Prize for a new play in 1989 and has been translated into eight languages.

Maria Callas, born in 1923 in New York of Greek parentage first established herself as an exceptional singer in Italy and went on to win world-wide acclaim. Her search for perfection and her unique vocal prowess, acting genius, volatile temperament and tragic personal life led her to be dubbed ‘La Divina’.
