“You have made us into what you think we are, just a butcher, just a butcher and his wife sitting at home wasting their lives, small-town people who sit on your back forcing you to be as small as the rest of us.”
1999, a small town in Tennessee is silently torn apart by the opiate epidemic.
We meet the Lawtons; once close, they are now struggling with John’s addiction to painkillers. When a new child is born, John is barred from meeting her until he ‘sorts himself out.’ But in a town with so much unspoken pain, that’s not so simple.
