The Last Picture

A York Theatre Royal, ETT & An Tobar and Mull Theatre Production

The Last Picture

-

The Last Picture is a quietly powerful new one-man play that places the audience inside multiple moments at once: a theatre audience in 2026, a Year 9 school trip, and Europe on the brink of catastrophe in 1939. As these perspectives overlap, the story invites us to consider how we remember the past and how we respond to the present.

Guiding the experience is Sam, an emotional support dog — a calm, reassuring presence who promises safety, even as history darkens and questions become harder to ignore.

Co-produced by York Theatre Royal, English Touring Theatre and An Tobar and Mull Theatre, this thoughtful and immersive production explores compassion, responsibility and the choices we make when faced with uncomfortable truths.

A moving and reflective piece of theatre that lingers long after the lights go down.
